Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Pablo, Vincent, Georgia, and MANY more artists were all once 7 & 8 year old kiddos who loved to create and express themselves. Our brilliant and beautiful Bronxites ALSO just want the opportunity to create and express themselves! Our classroom community consists of 22 incredible students in an Integrated Co-Teaching setting, with both a General Education and Special Education teacher. Among our 22 rockstars, there are nine students who are English Language Learners (with home languages like Bangla, Spanish, French, and Albanian) and eight that have special needs. The students in our third-grade class range in ability across five grade-level equivalents. Our students were in Kindergarten when COVID-19 shut the world down, and as a result, need so much support building up both the gaps in their learning as well as times to feel JOY & CREATIVITY.
Our students love to create, color, and express themselves through the Visual Arts, but do not have a full-time Art teacher!
With your donation, you will help us bring Art into the classroom to create projects that connect to our academic learning. For example, we are reading a Historical Fiction novel that takes place in remote Alaska; help us use oil pastels to depict the Northern Lights against a snowy silhouette! Your donation will help us provide each of our students with their own set of oil pastels, watercolors, and colored pencils, as well as the papers to be their canvas!
