Sometimes you need to sit at a table and sometimes you just need to play on the floor. Developing speech and language skills in students aged 3 to 12 means a wide variety of learners who need different learning spaces.
I am the speech language pathologist that serves a diverse group of learners from preschool to 5th grade.
My students have a wide range of communication delays and disabilities. The school is an urban inclusion school that believes in meeting the needs of all learners.
My Project
When my students need a quiet space to develop their language skills we need a space that offers both a structured work space and a play area. Academic language skills are best taught at a table. However, developing early language skills and social language needs floor space where students can play and have social interactions.
By donating to this project you will help purchase a table that will allow my students to learn critical academic language skills and a rug that will allow, especially my three and four year olds, to play and discover language in a natural way.
