From Supplies to Success

My Project

My students are fun, outgoing, and love to learn. They enjoy learning new things each and every day.

I have an amazing group of first graders.

Students come to school each day eager to try and learn new things. I teach at a Title I school with a high poverty index. A lot of our students do not have the best home lives, so our school is their security and they count on us every day.

We are also a school of the arts. This means we have Drama, Dance, Music, P.E., and Art as their specials. We incorporate all of these elements into our lesson plans. Watching the students learn using these elements is so amazing.

The transition to first grade is one that requires a lot of training and direction. Students come from 5k where they are guided a lot through the school routine. My goal is to help students become independent and lifelong learners.

These materials will be used daily. The dry erase markers and markers for everyday use and copy paper to help with daily work. Students will be given heavy duty folders to use as their homework and communications folder with the parents. The dividers will serve as a way to organize their important papers. The laminating pouches will help keep their homework secure.

The main reason I am asking for these materials is because my students come from a demographic that is low-income. Some of my students cannot afford school supplies and as a teacher, I need to get the materials for them. This project will help me be able to afford the highest quality materials for all students.
