Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember the pain of having to use a manual pencil sharpener? Well, the grinding noise and a long line of students waiting to sharpen their writing utensils are common sights and sounds in my classroom.
My students are inquisitive scientists.
In fact, I address them not as middle school students, but real life scientists. They are also largely English language learners and a majority of them qualify for free and reduced lunch. Despite this, they constantly prove their desire to learn and grow. I am lucky to have a determined and hardworking group of scientists.
My Project
By having these supplies, my scientists will no longer have to furiously sharpen their pencils with an outdated sharpener. The long lines would be eliminated, as their writing utensils would be instantly sharp. In addition to the electric pencil sharpeners, my scientists will allow be able to be organized through the use of milk crates.
Using crates, I will be able to make extra copies more accessible to my scientists.
It will also provide a way of sorting and handing back graded work. Lastly, paper serves as an extremely important resource in the classroom setting. I am constantly running out, leaving me unable to make copies of work when my scientists need them.
