This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students live in one of the poorest communities in Brooklyn. Some live in shelters and travel a great deal to arrive at school. Most are from single family homes and most of them live in the housing projects close by. They are wonderful creative, talented, and artistic children. They are always eager to be at school with their friends and teachers.
My students have a great passion for the arts and love creating and exploring with new materials.
They are passionate about art making! They are fun, silly, energetic, and talented children ! Art making is a powerful learning tool.
My Project
I would love my 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders to have sketchbooks.
Sketchbooks are an invaluable tool for my students serving as a portable, personal space for creative exploration and development. They serve as a foundational tool for writing about artwork. Overall, sketchbooks foster creativity, skill development, and personal growth in art-making. I want my students to experience all the wonderful things from having and maintaining a sketchbook as a young artist.
Please help my young artists explore their creativity and foster the new generation of artists!
