This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"With realization of one’s own potential and self-confidence in one’s ability, one can build a better world"~ Dalai Lama
All of my students are learning English as a second language.
Our school is in a high poverty area where all students are provided with free breakfast and lunch. Our school is also one of the oldest in the neighborhood, almost 100 years old, and we don't have many new resources to share with the children.
My Project
Several of my students are very shy and lack the confidence to speak aloud. They listen attentively during lessons, but whether due to language ability or personality, several students are reluctant to share ideas when it's time to respond. Many of my students often speak in a whisper, even when sharing in front of the class.
The microphones and sound phones requested will allow the children to hear the sound of their own voice, so they can begin to assess and correct the levels of sound on their own. By filming the students (with the requested camcorder) during Reader's Theater and oral presentations, they will be able to watch their performances and work on improving their speaking and oral language skills. Parents will also be able to come and view the videos during special occasions, such as Back to School Night, parent conferences, and more.
I also requested learning games that help to specifically address building oral language and English speaking skills.
Please help these silent scholars become awesome orators!
Your donations will help these children gain the confidence they need to achieve their very best.
