This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are struggling with reading and I have learned about the Science of Reading and Balanced Literacy framework to support them in becoming confident readers. I am in need of updated teacher resources so I can read up on the latest skills that are backed by science and proven to be effective by professionals and reading experts. The books I am requesting came highly recommended from colleagues who have experienced success teaching literacy using these new ideas. These basic skills are needed to be strong readers.
My students will become confident readers who will no longer shy away from books, but become reader-leaders!
The books requested include high-frequency word knowledge, overcoming dyslexia, and learning how to activate different parts of the brain to access knowledge. I am eager to implement new strategies in small groups from these teacher resource books to help my students become confident and proficient reader-leaders!
