From Seed to System: Unveiling Nature's Secrets in an Ecocolumn
Help me give my students the chance to build and explore miniature ecosystems with all the necessary supplies for a terrestrial, decomposition, and aquatic ecocolumn!
This engaging project will provide my special education inclusion classes with all the materials needed to create ecocolumns – self-contained models of terrestrial, decomposer, and aquatic environments. These ecocolumns will be a powerful learning tool for all my students.
Ecocolumns offer a visual and tactile learning experience.
Students of all abilities can engage in building the ecocolumn, planting seeds, observing tiny creatures, and witnessing the natural processes at work. Students will explore the concepts of food chains, webs, and biogeochemical cycles through direct observation of the ecocolumn's self-sustaining ecosystem.
Students will work together to create and maintain these ecocolumns which in turn promotes teamwork, communication, and social interaction among all students. By supporting this project, you'll equip my classroom to nurture a love for science and empower all students to become active explorers of the world around them!
