My Project

In our Family Consumer Science classroom, we're eager to spark a passion for sustainable living and healthy eating. With your support, we aim to cultivate a hands-on learning experience by acquiring a classroom set of seed starting materials, including heat mats, seed starting trays, and indoor grow lights.

The primary goal of this project is to integrate gardening into our Family Consumer Science curriculum, allowing students to explore the journey of food from seed to plate.

Through this initiative, we will delve into the principles of sustainable agriculture, nutrition, and culinary arts, providing students with valuable skills that extend beyond the classroom.

By learning about sustainable gardening in our Family Consumer Science curriculum, students will not only gain a deeper understanding of where their food comes from but also develop practical culinary skills with the intent of being able to grow. This project aims to foster a connection between food production and consumption, promoting healthy eating habits and an appreciation for locally sourced, home-grown produce. The culminating goal of this project is to inspire students to plant and nurture their own gardens at home!

These materials will specifically be used in Family Consumer Science 8, Life Skills, and Integrated Family Consumer Science. The courses will each choose their own seed to start, nurture, and eventually take a seedling home!
