Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students experience difficulties both academically and socially. Their problems relate to their home situations, financial stability, poor parental involvement and lack of motivation. This transfers negatively into their learning. As a teacher in a low-income/high-poverty school district, I would like my students to experience learning in an enjoyable environment. I want to provide activities where they would be engaged and thrilled and get the chance to change their negative feelings of learning into positive ones.

My students need to believe in themselves, that they can be creative thinkers and assets to the community.

Therefore, these activities/projects will give them the chance to do so.

My Project

Students seem to learn better when they are actively engaged in their learning, by using their hands and minds to carry out their ideas. STEM helps them do this, as it involves hands-on activities and allows them to exercise their creativity. The teaching of science has shifted from traditional instruction to a modernized system. Therefore, students must have the ability to think critically and use their own knowledge in real-world applications.

These STEM materials will help my students gain this practice and experience to better prepare them for their future in the world of science and technology.

The STEM bundle kit will allow my students to experiment by brainstorming and building models through a fun yet learning process. The Careers books will help them see how STEM connects to careers in the real world. The activity book will provide them with an even wider range of exercises to broaden their experience.
