it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In our classroom, learning comes alive through play, imagination, and heart. I’m seeking support to bring hand puppets into our classroom to nurture both our students’ mental wellness and their understanding of science, especially the fascinating process of pollination.
Hand puppets are powerful tools that help students express emotions, build social skills, and explore science concepts in a hands-on, playful way.
Through puppet storytelling, students can safely explore emotions like anxiety, frustration, or joy by giving voice to a character. This helps them build emotional vocabulary and empathy, key components of social-emotional development.
At the same time, we’ll use insect and animal puppets to model scientific ideas like how bees pollinate flowers, how plants reproduce, and the interdependence of living things. Puppets allow even our youngest learners to engage deeply and joyfully in abstract concepts by making them visual, tactile, and collaborative.
