My students are very special first graders in a high needs area of a borough in New York. Many of my students are English language learners and children with special needs. Each student is unique in his or her own way and deserves to have the best educational experience possible. All of my students receive free lunch and come to school every day eager to learn.
Unfortunately, my classroom does not always have the supplies we need.
Every donation makes a difference in my students' lives. I look forward to creating projects that will make our classroom a joyful learning environment. Thank you!
My Project
Children learn to love reading at an early age. If they are provided with a variety of books at their level, they will enjoy reading in school and that love will continue to grow as they get older. In order to do so, they need new high-interest level books. Many of the books in my classroom are out dated. They are old, written in and pages are missing from some of them. It can be difficult for some students to find a book to read if they are not interested in what is already there. The books I am asking for your help in getting will provide just that. High-interest, at all levels, ensuring that there are new interesting books available to my wide-variety of academic leveled readers.
By reading books of high interest they can improve their reading skills, which will improve their education as a whole!!
My library does not have a large collection of books, so I would like to have books that will hold their interests and keep them reading in my classroom. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. I cannot wait to fill our shelves with books the kids cannot wait to read!!
