From Micro to Macro: Lab Explorations of Cells, Organisms,and Ecosystems

My Project

By exploring cells and their roles in larger organisms with the microscope to building and observing ecosystems in labs, we can turn the science classroom into a living laboratory that supports scientific inquiry in both a micro and macro setting. The living laboratory will not only be a hub of scientific exploration but also a sanctuary for students to nurture their curiosity and passion for the natural world. From the smallest microorganism to the vastness of the ecosystem, every corner of the lab will be a testament to the wonders of life. The students will not only learn about the world around them but also about themselves. The aspiring biologist might find joy in the intricate dance of cells under the microscope, while the future environmentalist might find their calling in the delicate balance of the ecosystems they help maintain. Each day in the lab is a step closer to their dreams, a step closer to understanding who they are and who they want to be. This will also open opportunities for community volunteering at local businesses and organizations affiliated with environmental stewardship.

All of the supplies combined will create lab stations that will be accessible to all learners in my classroom, especially for the students with disabilities and those who are seeking further guidance in college career preparation.

My students, each unique in their own way, come from a myriad of backgrounds and experiences. Some dream of becoming the next great biologist, uncovering the secrets of life itself. Others hope to use their knowledge to protect and preserve our precious ecosystems.
