My students need a storage unit and storage containers to organize all of the materials that they use everyday, such as crayons, glue sticks, and math manipulatives.

My Students
You remember what it was like to be a primary school student? You were learning to read and add, and you loved to color and create.
My students love to learn and create.
They love helping out in the classroom. My students are in second grade in a urban school setting in Maryland. They are at an age where they are learning to be more independent. They need to be able to access materials themselves, so that they can be leaders.
My school has new desks and chairs, but our budget restrictions have not allowed us to purchase any other new furniture. The bookshelves in our classroom are well worn, and our plastic storage containers are cracking.
My Project
The new storage unit and storage containers I have requested will allow me to organize all of the materials that my students use everyday. Then, when the students need to use scissors and glue to make a project, they will be able to easily access their own materials. The students will become leaders as they self-select what math manipulatives they need to solve a problem. My students will learn to be more independent.
This project is so important because my students deserve to see that they go to school in a place that is made for them.
When students are able to access materials within the classroom, this makes the classroom their own.
