From Math to Reading - We NEED Books!

My students need 34 books, books and more books! As we continue to build our classroom library, we need biographies on everyone from Rosa Parks to Lebron James!

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Fifth graders who love to read! YES! My kids actually enjoy reading! Not only do they love to read, but they love learning about all different types of people! These biographies will not only add to our library, give my kids a chance to "meet" people from all over the world!

My students face so many challenges, but they realize that education is what will provide them with a more promising future.

With so many issues, I consider it my mission as their educator to take them away and rescue them from their pressing worries through the joys of meaningful experiences and exposure to what life has to offer. Although we've been at the 100% poverty level in the past, with only one other in the state of South Carolina, we don't use this as an excuse to have a pity party, but rather as a means of motivation. We make sure to reassure the students that education is the key that unlocks the doors of opportunity and future success and support them while they move forward.

My Project

I am requesting a variety of biography books to add to our reading center. Although our classroom library is growing, we are lacking a selection of biographies. I have requested books on everyone from Eli Manning to Amelia Earhart. I have books to interest the boys AND the girls in my classroom. Reading about people who may have started out in similar situations as their own, may very well inspire the next NFL football player or female trail blazer - straight from my very own classroom!
