From Listening to Understanding

Help me give my students the tools they need to be future historians including headphones and headphone organization to allow them to access history through oral histories and materials for them to create visual examples of their understanding.

My Project

This is a bit of a hodgepodge of materials, but as often happens in middle school, the seemingly most random materials often come together to make the best learning. As we move farther into the 21st century learning continues to evolve and teaching looks much different than it ever has before.

My students are learning to decipher credible sources from those that provide false or oversimplified information.

Oral histories are often the most reliable sources students can use to help them understand the events of the past and the impact those events had on the people who experienced them. To really connect with these stories it is helpful for students to watch and listen to people tell their stories and in a classroom of 36 students, headphones become a necessity- allowing students to focus and not be distracted by the work of their peers.

From experience I have found that proper storage leads to the longevity of materials, and shoe organizers will be the perfect solution for keeping the headphones organized and in good shape. Now for the seemingly unconnected adhesives. Students process information best when they are able to express what they have learned creatively and apply it off technology. While they need the technology to learn, they need the ability to express their learning creatively to process. I have found that these glue dots are the optimal adhesive for creative projects as they hold paper firmly but also don't make marks or wrinkles on the paper.
