Although our school is located in the center of the Silicon Valley, about 50% of our students come from low-income families with 25% English language learners. When students are given tools to make products which look professional, they begin to take more pride in their work and aim for excellence.
Students will create products to sell at local craft fairs and flea markets.
Using Dye Sublimation materials (printer, ink, and paper), students can heat transfer digitally designed images onto different substrates such as t-shirts, acrylic, and wood. They will conduct market research, look at safety guidelines for different age groups, create prototypes, practice technical writing through creating instruction sheets, and produce packaging for presentation. These entrepreneurial skills can be applied to various aspects of their lives.
