My Project
I feel incredibly lucky to work with a group of students who are not only curious learners but also deeply passionate about helping the planet. Their questions about recycling, composting, and pollution come from a genuine desire to make a difference in the world around them. This project is designed to channel that passion into hands-on, meaningful learning.
With the Garbage to Gardens Compost Kits, students will observe decomposition, track food waste, and create nutrient-rich soil—all while learning about the science of ecosystems, sustainability, and environmental responsibility.
This project will empower students to take ownership of their learning and the environment. The reusable water bottles will support our school's effort to reduce single-use plastics, encouraging healthy habits and less waste. The dry-erase pockets will allow us to reuse activity sheets, data logs, and reflection pages, reducing our paper use and helping students stay organized during science experiments.
The color and white cardstock will be used to create long-lasting signs, labels, and eco-station instructions that guide students through each stage of the composting process. Our goal is to create a classroom culture where students see themselves as problem-solvers and caretakers of the Earth, building both academic skills and lifelong values.
