This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Have you ever wondered why educators are concerned about the lack of funds for art education? Children gain useful life skills through art. Art is not only fun but it is also a form of self expression and communication. It expands a child's ability to create and interact with the world around them.

I teach 24 enthusiastic third graders in a low economic area.

Our school funds are limited, so the art materials I have requested are never available. My students enjoy sharing their feelings and experiences through art. They are enthusiastic about looking at artwork and creating art. To build upon their interests, I try to combine art with various units of study in science, health, and social studies.

My Project

All of the materials I'm requesting will be used in the process of etching glass. My students will be able to create original etchings that emphasize rhythm and movement. They will also be able to learn to communicate their feelings through art, solve problems that may arise in the creation of their work, and improve their fine motor skills while they sketch drawings and etch glass. My students have so much to communicate and art is a marvelous tool that will help them express what they are unable to say in words.
