This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"From here to eternity" that is a phrase from a romantic movie. Well, that is how much I want to impact my students. I want them to become successful writers and take those skills throughout their life. But, I need help because I do not have enough resources to help them acquire these skills.
I work in a title 1 school located in a poor neighborhood in the South Bronx.
Our students come from very low income families whom some of them live in shelters. Our community is growing and with that our students population. We are receiving students that are new to the country and coming to school for the first time. Many of these children are non-English speakers. I am striving to help them acquire the skills they need to succeed in school, writing, and life.
My Project
I can envision my students using all these wonderful resources that a very kind soul is going to provide us with. I can see them working in groups of four to five helping each other learn the alphabet, penmanship, phonemic awareness, and sentence writing. Those are the skills they will be working on at their own pace since they will be needing them to be successful writers and closed the achievement gap.
Getting my project funded, will make a tremendous impact in my classroom because these wonderful materials will help my students be the great writers I know they can be.
By acquiring strong writing skills now, will help them apply them through their whole life.
