The writing process starts with learning from published authors. For example, what does this type of article look like? What does it include? How does the author capture my attention? Questions like these lead to discussions and learning. Students' thoughts and ideas lead to first drafts of their own pieces.
In this case, I become the scribe and they lead the learning.
Thus, the need for anchor chart paper. With an anchor chart, we create together, a resource that is made available to return to any time they need it. The copy paper is for publication of their finished pieces. It is such an empowering process for them!
