My Students

Our small urban public school is where young learners of age four begin to spend time exploring the world around them, attain literacy, gross and fine motor skills, social and emotional skills, and STEAM education. Many of our young scholars have challenges such as vocabulary, oral language, and speaking the English language. The school serves many low-income families, which is a barrier for them to attain various learning resources. It also creates another challenge for our young learners to be educationally successful due to their socioeconomic background and caregivers' education.

Our school is bringing low-income students into STEM education to decrease gaps in digital inequality, homework quality, and developmental disparities.

In addition, young learners will be better prepared for a rigorous educational foundation to assist them for college and beyond. Our uniqueness and diversity of students in our school as well as community ignite a passion for learning.

My Project

The best form of learning for our scholars coming from low socioeconomic is promoting a good balance of open ended play and structure with instant results through the introduction of coding using Botley, the Coding Robots. Understanding how technology works is important for the future our preschoolers, so they can help build the future world.

Instilling STEM education along with coding in young scholars will develop new ways of thinking by breaking up big problems into smaller steps.

K'NEX Education Kits and Kids First Engineer Kits will increase collaboration between peers and being able to work in cooperative groups. The use of various interactive engineering kits as a vehicle for learning promotes behavioral change, instant feedback, and positive hands-on experience.

Coding and engineering helps take the fear out of making mistakes and gaining self-confidence. It also teaches persistence in finding a way to solve problems. Young children learn best through play and incorporating different hands-on materials.
