My Project
I teach in a school that is culturally and linguistically diverse. My students are kind and inquisitive little human beings who thrive on opportunities to move and express their creativity, emotions, and energy. We are often singing, dancing, and making art as well as working on the core subjects of reading/language arts and math. There is a lot of joy in my classroom!
My students have been having fun using technology to create eye-catching art, and I would love to further their exploration this semester by showing them how to do stop motion animation.
I already have much of the equipment and resources on hand to create their animation projects- an iPad, green screen, and apps such as iMotion and DoInk for Green Screen, as well as lessons designed by amazingly talented art educator Tricia Fuglestad. What we need now are modeling clay and sculpting tools to create animal characters, which we will then be able to feature in our stop motion animation videos. Students can also create storyboards and write simple stories that can drive the narratives behind their videos as well, working individually or collaboratively in groups. 3D animation, technology, language and storytelling--it's the perfect vehicle for arts integration!
