I am a pre-k teacher to 18 loving children in the NYC. Most of the children, come from low income families who may not have the extra funds to purchase educational materials for their children. We try to provide this at school to the best of our abilities.
From Bored with School to Chairman of the Board...without materials this is difficult. It is important for the children to express themselves through art each day and have stimulating literacy lessons. Children learn best when they are using hands-on materials and are actively involved in a lesson. I would like these literacy activities in order for my students' to be exposed to a variety of literacy concepts in a fun way.
We are in need of big books that will teach both reading and math. This set of 10 big books will reinforce number recognition and counting skills. We are also requesting a storytelling kit to re-enact the beloved tale, Jack and the Beanstalk. We need alphabet cutters for our clay center and a puzzle to reinforce rhyming skills. Lastly, our classroom needs a variety of art materials such as wiggly eyes, feathers, pom poms, glitter, cotton balls,
and easel clips.
These materials will expand my students' knowledge and promote a love of learning. Every child can be successful with these early childhood materials. If you decide to help us with this request, you will be making a big difference in the lives of 18 young children. We cannot afford as a democracy to leave as many kids behind as we have as a nation. Nothing matters more than educating a generation of young children. As teachers, we are all determined to help create a better world and are focused on our goals with determination.
