This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Moving from teaching 1st grade to kindergarten is an exciting transition that brings new opportunities and challenges. While both grades focus on building foundational skills, kindergarten requires a completely different approach to instruction, classroom setup, and materials. As I prepare for this shift, it is clear that I will need a wide range of new supplies and resources specifically designed for younger learners.

Kindergarten students are just beginning their school journey.

They learn best through hands-on activities, visual aids, and interactive centers. Unlike in 1st grade, where students are more independent, kindergartners need tools that support fine motor development, basic literacy and math skills, and social-emotional growth. This means I will need materials such as alphabet manipulatives, counting cubes, picture books, sensory tools, learning games, accent chairs,

and age-appropriate furniture and organization systems.

Investing in these new supplies will directly benefit my incoming class. With the right resources, I can create an engaging, welcoming environment where students feel safe, supported, and excited to learn. Well-prepared centers, meaningful activities, and organized spaces will allow for smooth routines and individualized learning opportunities.
