Frog in the City

Help me give my students a frog life cycle kit and frog materials so that we can watch frogs grow and learn about their life cycle!

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach a bilingual, special education class. These students are doubly challenged as they work hard to succeed! They contend with language, physical, and intellectual disabilities but they amaze me with what they can do. This past year has been extra challenging, as we were constantly changing between remote and in-classroom learning.

My Project

Have you ever caught a frog in a city??

My students work very hard in school but have a hard time understanding abstract concepts in science and social studies.

These city children have never seen many of the things I describe to them and language barriers additionally obstruct their learning. My students require many visual and tactile aids to help them learn. Without resources, it is difficult for me to fully provide for their various needs.

Now, back to the frog. Most of these children have never seen a frog since they hardly ever leave the city. I would love for them to experience the wonders of the frog life cycle with the help of a frog hatchery kit. I am requesting this kit, which comes with live tadpoles, so that the students can clearly see the frog life cycle. Various visual aids, such as "frog life-cycle models", a frog craft, and appropriate books on the topic would help enhance this very hands-on unit. I believe that this would be an experience that my students would never forget.

You can help some deserving children have this wondrous experience. Go ahead- catch a frog... and send it to the city!
