This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"I can't do school!" These are 4 of the saddest words I have ever heard come from a student's mouth. But for so many of the students at our high school, this is what they believe, many because their struggles with special education and poverty make learning so difficult.

98% of the students at our school receive a free lunch and over 30% have some sort of special education services.

Help me give them the tools to be able to do school and succeed in learning!

My Project

Our students will use this sports and game equipment in intramural sports program- general education students will get to hang out with their special education partners and play sports, play games, and get to know one another on a special level of friendship!

This equipment will be used during their joint PE class and afterschool intramurals sports club time so students can relax, interact, and have fun just being teenagers while developing lifelong fitness habits and seeing that they have more in common than differences.

Our afterschool intramurals helps both groups learn more about each other and they get to have fun doing it- it develops social skills, leadership skills, athletic and problem-solving skills, and apathy in all of our students.
