My Students

I am currently a Literacy Coach in an urban school district. I support teachers by modeling literacy lessons, and locating effective resources that promote students' learning. Due to limited funding, resources are scarce. Many of the children also come from economically disadvantaged homes. Nonetheless, my students are eager to learn.

My philosphy is that all students are capable of learning if they are known, supported, and guided.

Students can achieve some level of success especially if they have the materials necessary to improve their learning. In my district funds have been drastically cut year after year. Students are recieveing less and less support and expected to grow.

We are a learning community, more so than a classroom, because everyone who steps through our door is a teacher of something to someone. Please help me inspire my students to be life long learners!

My Project

Everyday my students are on the move to meet on the carpet to engage in learning. Having the Flex-Space A Place for Everyone Carpet for 20 Kids - 8' x 9' will make a world of difference. Our current carpet is run-down and my students would appreciate having a new one. My students will benefit from having the Classroom Magnetic Letter Kit to manipulate words while learning to decode and spell accurately.

We will gather on the carpet daily to jump start our day with our morning meeting focused on the calendar, developing number sense, sharing ideas and new learning, and to discuss the day's agenda for learning.Students will return to the carpet throughout the day to work collaboratively on various objectives in small groups, or with partners.

For example, students will have a space to collaboratively on building their language skills using the Classroom Magnetic Letter Kit.My students come to school and are eager to learn in a space that is comfy and that will keep them focused.

Please help me roll out the Flex-Space A Place for Everyone Carpet for 20 Kids - 8' x 9' so my students can feel comfortable and be focused on learning.
