This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
After a year of traveling and pushing into a classroom, our school will have an available classroom for the art literacy program. This is exciting news for the children in our school. The kids come from a diverse low-income high poverty community. Staff at our school work hard to provide them with a variety of positive worldly experience, the arts being some of them. So many of them respond to the arts in such positive ways and we want to keep this momentum going!
My Project
Clay and paint are among the favorite mediums the kids in our school love to work with. It is such a joy to hear the excitement when they know they get to create with these things. Their enthusiasm in art making and problem solving makes a big impact in their work in the art studio. As they work and experiment with these materials they also are able to express themselves in a positive way and gain a self confidence that carries itself outside of the art room. Having these materials available in the studio will surely make a difference in our young artists!
