Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach 50 amazing third and fourth grade students in ELA and social studies. This diverse group of students come from difficult backgrounds as well as different countries. They come to school each day with a smile and the hope to succeed.
The majority of my students have not had the experiences most third and fourth graders have had.
By providing them with experiences, I hope to close the achievement gap as I make learning fun and inspiring for my students.
My Project
This year only a few of my students were able to bring in supplies for themselves. My students need folders, crayons, glue, pencils, highlighters, sticky notes, colored pencils, and scissors to be able to complete a variety of ELA activities as well as their assignments.

This diverse group of students come from difficult backgrounds as well as different countries. They come to school each day with a smile and the hope to succeed.
The majority of my students cannot afford basic classroom supplies such as binders, highlighters, glue, pencils, erasers, or crayons.
By providing them with these basic school supplies, I hope to close the achievement gap as I make learning fun and inspire my students.
The folders, glue, pencils, highlighters, sticky notes, colored pencils, and scissors will make an impact on my students learning by giving them the tools that they need to complete their daily assignments without worrying about if they have the tools to be successful. There is not one day that goes by in which a student doesn't tell me, "Ms., I would but I don't have a pencil."
Having the means to provide these materials for my students will not only elevate the anxiety of not being prepared but will also create a sense of confidence in them to tackle their work!
