Hello all! I am Elaine Tracy (Ms. Tracy from 9:00-4:00 everyday) and I am a first year, 5th grade math and science teacher. As the 2023-2024 school year comes to a close I am feeling so incredibly grateful for Donors Choose and the impact they've had on my 5th graders. The resources I've been able to receive from this program have completely changed the culture of my classroom for the better. As I enter my second year of teaching, I am requesting these items in order to set up my classroom for success in the 2024-2025 school year. I have learned so much about 5th graders and what they need to succeed. I am asking for these items for organizational purposes in my classroom. I am hoping to install hooks for the students to hold their backpacks and coats on. Perhaps the item I am most hopeful for is the smiley face rug.
The more I learn about 5th graders the more I realize they need to feel safe and comfortable in order to succeed.
I feel that the addition of a rug in my classroom will increase student engagement by giving students an opportunity to choose a place where they feel most comfortable to learn. I am eager to implement routines to keep students safe and healthy which is why I am requesting Clorox wipes, brooms, and fidget toys.
