Help me give my students an electric pencil sharpener, stools for our table, markers, and highlighters to practice new skills with a number line and a calendar.
My students are 3rd grade learners who come from diverse backgrounds with all different learning styles and needs. They live in a high poverty area where over 90% of my class receives free breakfast and lunch daily. They love learning when learning is accessible to them. This can mean having the right tools available to make learning engaging for them. They face many challenges in their daily lives–hunger, trauma, and homelessness, to name a few. Access to classroom materials to facilitate our learning should not be a challenge they face.
My Project
Our classroom is in need of a few supplies to help us make create a classroom environment where everyone has what they need and is ready to learn. It's also important to have resources such as a classroom calendar and number line posted on our wall so we can reference them throughout our day. The stools will help several students fit around a small table for small group guided practice. We will use high lighters and dry erase markers to practice skills we are working on. And we need an electric pencil sharpener! We will all be able quickly sharpen our pencils in the morning and be ready to start our day with a fresh brain and freshly sharpened pencil, not much is better than that!
