Hello! My name is Sarah Howell and I am currently a 2nd grade RLA/SS teacher at JHES. I am seeking funding for my classroom for the current and next school year for much needed reading materials, supplies, and a bigger classroom rug.
My goal is to be able to provide adequate education and learning opportunities to my students while also giving them the gift of a comfortable, relaxing learning environment.
My request is for a new, bigger classroom rug to brighten our classroom and fit our student spacing needs (our current rug is way too small and makes whole group instruction difficult and cramped), reading materials for various genres they are and will be learning (including fairytales, folktales, fables, poetry, drama, multimodal text, and informational text), and class supplies needed to be successful in the classroom.
My classroom is my second home and I want it to be a relaxing and fun environment that is also conducive to their learning needs. My students are a part of a Title I school. We have recently become a STEM campus in our district, where we provide learning opportunities through Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. I have students currently who range from Kindergarten to 3rd grade reading levels. This project is important to my students and I because it means that we will have readily available access to grade level texts, supplies to help enrich their learning experience or supplement their supply lists with items that we go through the most (or to students who otherwise would not be able to provide supplies), and the new carpet will give us an adequate anchor point for group learning in our classroom.
