My students need materials to support their growth in English Language Arts, including daily correct the sentence journals, vocabulary journals, and writing folders.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school is on the rise; previously one of the lowest performing schools in Michigan, we have only recently been removed from the Priority Schools list due to slow and steady improvement in student achievement. In spite of these obstacles, our students come to school focused, excited, and with an obvious zest for life and learning.
We have a small, but growing population of students exceeding grade-level expectations, and it is our goal to challenge them with trans-disciplinary research projects.
My Project
Next year, I will be making the transition from elementary school to middle school, teaching a self-contained sixth grade classroom.
Over the course of the year, my students will be working on digital media projects that will explore essential questions about their lives and communities, empowering students to use media to shape their worlds.
In order for these projects to be successful, my students will need abundant practice with grammar and writing mechanics. With the resources from this project, such as daily practice journals and writing folders, students will be able to hone essential skills that they will need to compile research, conduct interviews, and write cogent reports.
We are so grateful, in advance, for your generosity and support!
