Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach ESL and ELD students in a diverse middle school setting. Many of my students are newcomers or long-term English learners who need extra support to develop their language skills. Because reclassification takes time, I often have the same students in my classroom for two or more years. They are hardworking, curious, and deserve lessons that keep them engaged and challenged—year after year.
I’m requesting a Teachers Pay Teachers gift card so I can purchase new and engaging instructional resources for my ESL/ELD students.
Many of my students remain in my class for multiple years, so I can’t simply reuse old lessons. Repeating activities not only bores students, but also limits my ability to truly assess their progress. When they already know the material, it’s hard to know what they’ve actually learned.
With fresh materials, I can design new lessons that match their current language levels, incorporate their interests, and help them stay motivated.
