My Project

I work as a Librarian at a high school in central Massachusetts. It is a very culturally diverse but economically challenged neighborhood. Many of my students cannot access public libraries; their school library is their connection to resources outside of their neighborhood.

A lot of the books on the shelves are damaged and stained; new students coming to the library are not excited to check out old tattered copies.

Fresh copies of these loved titles help keep kids interested in reading; when they ask for Harry Potter books it would be amazing to be able to give them a brand new copy to read.

The importance of a strong library and literacy program in a public high school cannot be overstated. Inclusive titles are badly needed here to support my students as they become leaders in our community and to support our faculty as they continue to strive toward an equitable learning environment for all.
