My Students

I’m a speech therapist at a Title I school in an urban area. I’ve been at the same school for over 25 years and serve over 50 children. Even though my job gets more challenging every year due to my students’ needs continuing to increase, I stay because of all the amazing kids I get to work with.

Even though a large portion of my children can’t speak and have significant physical and medical concerns, every one of them perseveres to find a way to communicate, even if it’s a facial expression or giggle.

They challenge and encourage me every day. But mostly, they make me smile every day, in person and virtually!

My Project

The children are coming! The children are coming! Our students are finally returning to in- person learning, five days a week. Our school serves close to 1,000 Pre-K -4 through middle school students.

Giving my students the opportunity to come to speech therapy in a small space, while feeling comfortable is so important!

Having air purifiers that help clean our air, will give us the peace of mind to focus on strategic, authentic, and engaging speech and language therapy! We are looking forward to being together again, and it is our responsibility to put the health and safety of our students first!
