This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This year, I have the privilege of working as a school counselor. My students just came back from a long hiatus due to Covid. Most of them are excited to spend time with their friends. Quite a few of them are nervous and anxious about being back to a school environment especially the 6th graders that are just starting middle school. My students care about their school environment, community, and each other.
Socio-emotional leaning is at the forefront of this school year.
My students can all benefit from a lot of emotional and financial support. As a counselor working in a Title I school, the need for additional resources to benefit the emotional well-being of the community is a priority.
My Project
I am requesting basic hygiene supplies (pads, flushable wipes, and underwear change) for my students. Since my school houses so many shelter students, I want to be able to support them with their basic needs so they can focus in school. These students are already dealing with so many personal problems at home. They don't need to worry about the basic need of cleanliness. Students have told me they do not feel comfortable going to gym class because they have their period and no extra pads. I want them to feel free to run around and enjoy gym class and be able to come to my office after for a wipe and pad so they feel comfortable.

As a school counselor, I want to support my students and teach them to be healthy physically and emotionally. The juice will be a nice refreshment after gym class to keep my students hydrated and ready to learn!
