I teach French at an urban 9-12 high school where my students come from diverse backgrounds, many of which do not look like me. However, we all share a passion to learn about the French culture, language, and history of the French-speaking world. I am fortunate to be able to have many of my students in French class for 2-3 years and because of that, I am able to create a unique, positive classroom climate where all students feel welcome.
Our French classroom library is growing and we need another wire shelf to organize our books to make it easier for students to find a book that will interest them. Currently, there is not enough space to display all of the books so that they can see the cover of the book. The extra books that do not fit on our existing wire shelf are in a basket that students have to sort through to find their book.
We also need to add some French children's books to provide a variety of reading levels for students.
Some of these children's books are ones that they may have read when they were younger. I hope that this will excite and engage some of my reluctant readers.
