My Students

Most of my students are eager to learn French. They participate by answering and asking questions. My students also give suggestions and make recommendations for fun activities that will spark their interests.

My students may be down financially, but they are not down academically.

Despite their financial obstacles, they try to defy all odds by getting a good education. They try as best as possible to come to school as regularly as they can. They believe that education is of paramount importance in ridding them of a low-income lifestyle. They aspire for the best and for that reason, for the most part, they try their best to succeed.

Their eagerness to learn has definitely surpassed my high expectations of them. They are just amazing. Each day brings forth a new, exciting and different experience with them.

My Project

Traveling to France will provide my students with firsthand knowledge of the French culture by means of immersion. This way they will get the chance to read several pages of the “world book". There will be approximately 30 students and 6 teachers to benefit from this experience. This project will cover a portion of the cost of this trip. While in France, my students will get to experience everything that we have discussed in class.

They will visit the Eiffel Tower, Louvre and other historical monuments and museums in Paris, London, and Barcelona.

They will also visit the south of France. Therefore, this trip will increase not only their knowledge of French but also history.

In addition, with the increasing globalization and internationalization happening everywhere, it is vital for my students to expand their worldview, to be taken out of their comfort zone, and get an opportunity to appreciate other cultures. Without this awareness, my students will find it difficult to become worldly citizens of the 21st century.

As a French teacher, I don’t just have a responsibility for teaching my students French, I also have a duty in making my students independent, mature citizens of this world.

Taking my students to Europe will offer them a chance to learn and value the French, English, and Spanish cultures.
