My students need the desktops and printers so that they can start the school year off right. We are presently having issues with the computers freezing or crashing. We have 2 classroom sharing 1 computer.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Most of the students come from lower socioeconomic neighborhoods in Chicago. Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with over 90% of our students receiving free lunch. Our school is also very diverse schools. We have a large population of Special Needs students that attend our school.
We try to use a variety of materials and methods to keep our students engaged and learning throughout the school day.
We need functioning computers in our classroom. We are limited to 2 computers and they constantly freeze up or crash. Please help us get what the students and staff need to function in today's age of technology. Any and all donations are welcomed and appreciated.
My Project
These computers will continue to enhance the technology-rich classroom that I strive to create. My classroom is a place that my students really enjoy! I do "morning circle time" on the wall and dance along with the students to various educational videos, educational sites, etc. We share a classroom with another group of students. My visually impaired students enjoy listening to stories, while I work with the other students and they wait for their turn. My non-verbal students will be able to express their thoughts and communicate with adults and peers.
They are thankful for the opportunities to learn and use technology.
With these new computers and printers, the students will be able to print out any assignments. Thee computers will allow various educational apps to be used, so they can work independently to reinforce skills being learned.
