Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students at my school are some of the most amazing students who have over come obstacles most people will never go through. At a young age, they are already being challenged with every day life. The families are from a low-income/high poverty area with our school being a Title I school. During a regular school year, we have 100% of students receiving free breakfast and lunch. We able to give out 50 food bags every Friday to families in need of food for the weekend. We also give away produce once a month, provide clothing to our families in need, and have eye care where students get their eyes examined and glasses provided free of charge as well as offer school supplies if needed.
My Kindergarten students are curious, enthusiastic and full of life!
They love learning and being in school even through distance learning. They are building relationships with one another and myself.
My Project
Virtual learning has been a challenge since March. Now that we are into the new school year totally virtual, teaching has gotten more challenging. My personal computer does not have enough memory to stand up to the daily work load of virtual learning.
My computer continues to freeze or glitch, as my students complain during daily virtual whole group and small group meetings, lessons, screen sharing videos in lessons and during assessments.
I am asking for support in obtaining a dependable laptop to be able to deliver lessons and have meetings and be able to test my students without having to worry about the computer freezing or crashing.
I am asking for the Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 15" touch screen computer with 16 GB of memory to help relieve the stress of not having a dependable computer. I am asking for the 15" screen because I am on the computer more than ever and my eyes have weakened over the past four months of virtual learning.
We would appreciate the support of donors to help supply the Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 with a 15" screen and 16 GB of memory so we may have smooth lessons without the worry of the computer freezing or crashing due to lack of memory.
