My Project

Flexible seating is a modern way to prevent behaviors in the classroom environment. By providing students with an array of different seating options, students are often able to choose a seat that allows them to utilize their energy in a healthy way. This may be done by rocking in a floor rocker, wobbling around on a wobble stool, or standing at a tall table. When students are given a positive outlet to use throughout the day, they are able to focus on learning with less distractions due to behaviors.

Over the years, my students have always been extremely excited about being able to have the freedom of choice as soon as they enter the classroom.

Students are given the opportunity to choose their seat for the day. We refer to their seat of choice as a "Smart Seat". This seat empowers students to find a comfortable spot for them to take learning into their own hands for the day. Children love having the independence to have some control in their environment.
