Help me give my students some supplies for this upcoming school year and for many years after. In my class I like having kids sit at tables using flexible seating, therefore, they need storage bins for their stuff.
The wobble stools, storage bins, and erasers that I am requesting will make a difference by allowing the students to constantly move seats and to sit on seats that will help them to focus their attention more because their bodies are moving.
In my classroom, the kids sit somewhere different everyday at tables.
Since they sit at tables, they need storage bins to hold their stuff, like their pencil box and notebook. I find that moving my students everyday makes a difference in their learning because they are consistently are able to give and receive new ideas and new ways of thinking about things.
I have also noticed a difference with Social Emotional Learning when kids sit by someone different everyday. When students get a chance to sit by people they wouldn't normally sit by, they learn about that person and find things in common with that person. Their desires to bully someone decreases because they have been given the opportunity to get to know them.
My students are special because they come from a very poor socioeconomic location. A majority of the students in my classroom receive free and reduced lunch. More than 1/3 of each class is a new immigrant to America and they do not speak English or are just barely learning to speak.
