My Project

My school offers a Free Book Fair during our themed parent/community nights. These books have been on the survey as books that parents, students, siblings, and the community would like to see at future Free Book Fairs. Students earn community service learning hours by helping to set up the books, helping community members select books and fill out the survey, and cleaning up afterward.

Providing free books to families and the community will promote literacy.

Many of our families and surrounding community come from low-income households. By offering these requested books, students and their families are more likely to read and read together, ultimately improving reading fluency and comprehension. These are skills that they will use throughout their lives.
