Fractions are Fun!

My students need journals, games and activity centers to help them understand fractions and how to use them.

My Students

I hated fractions when I was in school. I wanted nothing to do with parts of a whole or half of a number. I want my students to have fun learning about fractions and how useful they are in everyday life!

My students are the most fabulous third graders in the state of Tennessee!

Many of them come from families that have recently lost their jobs due to downsizing at many facilities in our community. They are a very unique bunch who love learning every day. These kids thrive on classroom experiments and manipulatives to learn each day.

My Project

These materials will help my children understand the very difficult concept of fractions and how they relate to our complicated world. These games, manipulatives, and resources will help my kiddos to build concrete knowledge of fractions they will use throughout their lives. Many of these kids don't have the resources to learn abstract concepts at home, and I want to provide those experiences for them.

I want my students to have a positive association with numbers and fractions.

These students are growing tremendously already this year, and I want to see that continue when they learn about fractions. They see these numbers every day at every grocery store, toy store, and mall they go to, so with your help with this project, these kids will be able to understand and use these fractions correctly and consistently.
