My students need Micro Scale Organic Chemistry Fractional Distillation Sets for Environmental Science Labs.
FULLY FUNDED! Dr. McCoy's classroom raised $673

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are Honors and Advanced Placement students who are extremely hard-working and absolutely love science. They are curious about the impact of science on day to day life and using the concepts we have learned in the classroom to understand the impact we have on our environment.
When truly inspired by something, they tenaciously pursue knowledge related to it.
I have students who are very much natural born leaders. They amaze me every day with their enthusiasm for science and love of chemistry.
My Project
Organic chemistry fractional distillation sets will allow my students to use equipment that will help them to understand that you can in deed separate a mixture of two liquids. My more advanced students will be able to predict the temperature at which each of the pure substances (fractions) will be collected and will be challenged to apply what they have learned to environmental issues.
All of the students will get hands-on laboratory practice with equipment they will see again in college and will gain a better understanding of how these techniques are used for real world applications.
Together they will learn what each of the parts does, how they fit together and why all of this is necessary!
