This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Have you ever felt frustrated trying to solve a math equation and then suddenly you start using random objects to represent the equation and bam you got the answer? Well, those weren't random objects, they were manipulatives!
According to Stein and Bovalino (2001), “Manipulatives can be important tools in helping students to think and reason in more meaningful ways.
The use of manipulatives can really help them understand new math concepts.
The fraction tiles reinforces essential upper grade math concepts and will provide my students with targeted practice. With these manipulatives they can continue practicing new math skills during their free time or as enrichment. Both these sets of manipulatives will better help my students understand new concepts related to fractions such as equivalent fractions and comparing fractions.
