Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are from very low socioeconomic backgrounds and school is a safe, fun place for them to come. Many of them also come from different cultural backgrounds and many of them are English Language Learners.
My students love to learn and come to school every day excited about what we will do each day.
They are very creative and love to think out loud about what we are learning. They love it when we are working together and are willing to work hard.
My Project
We all have a love, hate relationship with fractions. In second grade, we are learning the very basic parts of a fraction. With the help of these games, I hope to teach my kids the basics and that fractions can actually be fun.
Fractions can be difficult for some kids to grasp but through the fun of a game, the group activities, students can learn them quickly.
By using such games as Fractions Bingo, Pizza Fraction Fun, and Fraction Dominoes, will assist with building the foundation of fraction learning that they will carry with them throughout life. It is my hope that these games help their skills so that they will become the best math experts that they can be.
