Fourth Graders Strike It Rich!

My Project

My fourth graders will be studying the California Gold Rush. We will be reading The California Gold Rush, an Interactive History Adventure and The Ballad of Lucy Whipple. We will study the time period, the struggle, and how the the gold rush shaped California. We will end the unit by panning for gold just like James W. Marshall at Sutter's Mill January 24, 1848.

We need the gold pans, tools, and bags of "pay dirt" to strike it rich!

I am requesting equipment and pay dirt so my students can pan for gold. My kids will pour, shake, examine, and repeat until they can shout, "GOLD!" The materials in this project are vital to a successful hands-on history project.
